How Do I Become A Habitat Homeowner?

Home Buyer Orientation

To be eligible for a Habitat home, you must be a resident of  Seminole County or Greater Apopka for at least 6 months and meet 3 guidelines: housing need, ability to pay and willingness to partner.

Habitat for Humanity prides itself on being a hand up and not a hand out. In addition to monthly mortgage payments, homeowners invest hundreds of hours of their own labor - "sweat" equity - into their house and the houses of others.

Homes that are built are sold to each homeowner at cost and financed with an interest free mortgage to pay the remaining balance. The principal portion of the mortgage payments are added to our "Funds for Humanity" and used to build more home.

All potential homeowners (applicants & co-applicants) must apply in person at a Home Buyer Orientation Session. We only accept completed applications during these orientation sessions; qualified applicants must also bring all required paperwork (see bullet points at bottom of page) to the orientation session. Sign up online today! Please contact Gayle Fleming with any questions.

Please see our calendar for upcoming orientation sessions in your area.
