Privacy Policy

Habitat for Humanity of Seminole-Apopka (HFHSA) respects your privacy and preferences. This privacy policy (the “Privacy Policy”) sets forth the terms under which you share your personal data with HFHSA, how HFHSA collects and uses your data, and your rights with respect to understanding and modifying how it will be collected and used.

I.               INFORMATION WE COLLECT THROUGH TECHNOLOGY AND IN-PERSON

We receive, collect and store any information you enter on our website at www.HabitatSeminoleApopka.org or any other domain names owned or controlled by HFHSA (the “Website”), or provide us in any other way, such as your name, mailing address, phone number(s) and email address(es); your social media handles; and your credit card number for donations. The information is requested, or you may volunteer to provide it, when you conduct a transaction on our website: make a donation, register for an event, sign up for a newsletter, purchase a product, volunteer your time or talent, or otherwise provide us with information via the Website or other technology, such as email, social media, texting, and mobile applications. This also applies to data we may collect in person at a special event, in response to a solicitation, face-to-face, by telephone, or through regular mail.  Your personal information will be used for the specific reasons stated only.

In addition, we collect the Internet protocol (IP) address used to connect your computer to the Internet; login; e-mail address; password; computer and connection information and purchase history. We may use software tools to measure and collect site analysis information, including page response times, length of visits to certain pages, page interaction information, and methods used to browse away from the page.

  1. COOKIES

in an effort to improve the quality of our website, we track information provided to us by your browser or by our software application when you view or use the website, such as the website you came from (known as the “referring URL”), the type of browser you use, the device from which you connected, the time and date of access, and other information that does not personally identify you. We track this information using cookies, or small text files which include an anonymous unique identifier. Cookies are sent to a user’s browser from our servers and are stored on the user’s computer hard drive. Sending a cookie to a user’s browser enables us to collect non-personal information about that user and keep a record of the user’s preferences when utilizing our services, both on an individual and aggregate basis. For example, HFHSA may use cookies to save language preferences, to indicate the system from which the site was rendered, to set cookie banner parameters, for stability/effectiveness measurement, for security and anti-fraud reasons, for system monitoring/debugging.

HFHSA may use both persistent and session cookies; persistent cookies remain on your computer after you close your session and until you delete them, while session cookies expire when you close your browser.  For example, we use a persistent cookie to track user language preferences.

III.            CHILDREN UNDER 13

It is HFHSA’s policy not to solicit knowingly any personally identifiable information from children under the age of 13. Children under 13 are not authorized to donate or purchase, sign up for an event or program, or otherwise provide any personally identifiable information without consent from a parent or legal guardian.

  1. HOW WE USE AND SHARE INFORMATION

We hold and process supporters’ personal data for a number of reasons:

·       To keep a record of donations made and actions taken by our supporters and our communications with them.

·       To send our supporters marketing information about our projects, fundraising activities and appeals when we have their consent or are otherwise permitted to do so.

·       To fulfill contractual obligations entered into with supporters.

·       To support volunteers, such as during build or fundraising events

·       To support community-based fundraising and campaigning

·         To ensure we do not send unwanted information to supporters or members of the public who have informed us they do not wish to be contacted.

·       To manage supporters’ accounts and provide customer service.

·       To offer sweepstakes, contests, giveaways or other promotions

·       To perform other functions as described at the time HFHSA collects information.

·         To contact you for marketing purposes—for example, to keep you up to date on our work, or let you know how you can support that work. We will do this when we have your consent or are otherwise allowed to do so because of your prior engagement with HFHSA.

·         To determine if and how you want to receive marketing/communications materials. We will not send these if you indicate you do not wish to receive them.

V.             HOW WE PROTECT INFORMATION

·       We ensure that there are appropriate technical controls in place to protect your personal details. For example, online forms that ask for personal information are stored on networks that are password-protected and routinely monitored.

·       Laptops are not used to store sensitive personal information unless they are password protected and/or encrypted.

·       All sensitive personal data is stored on a secure database, to which only a limited number of relevant personnel have access. It is deleted when no longer needed by us and is never shared with third parties.

·  Within HFHSA, we undertake regular reviews of who has access to information that we hold to ensure that your information is only accessible by appropriately trained staff, volunteers, and contractors. Where we share your personal data with a Habitat National Organization, the National Organization is required to take comparable steps to assure your information is securely stored and accessed only by appropriately trained personnel.

·       We use external companies to collect or process personal data on our behalf. We complete comprehensive checks on these companies before we work with them. Further, in our legal agreements, we clearly set out our requirements regarding how they manage the personal data to which they have access.

·       We have a robust partner-monitoring framework to ensure these contractual obligations are met.

VI.           YOUR RIGHTS REGARDING THE USE OF YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION

You have the right at any time to prevent us from contacting you for marketing purposes.  When we send a promotional communication to a user, the user can opt out of further promotional communications by following the unsubscribe instructions provided in that promotional e-mail. You can also indicate that you do not wish to receive marketing communications from us by emailing arigling@habitat-sa.org. We may continue to send you administrative emails including, for example, periodic updates to our Privacy Policy.
